What Are You Looking For?

If you care about high-quality audio as much as you care about your ride, the MP5 Stereo is made for you. Designed for compatibility with 1998-2013 Harley-Davidson touring motorcycles among other things, this standard DIN-sized stereo with an oversized faceplate combines a plug-and-play approach with a sleek design and high-quality sound to enhance your riding experience to the ultimate. Bluetooth enabled with handlebar controls, the MP5 utilizes the factory mounting bracket and connections that come with your bike so you can start blasting exactly what you want to hear when you want to hear it.

  • Handlebar Controls Control your music from the Harley-Davidson factory handlebar controls.

Environment Install Instruction

  • Take the 23-pin plug-in from your Harley-Davidson stereo and plug it into the Aquatic AV stereo.

  • Apply the face plate. Make sure the face plate is attached firmly.

  • Power on the bike.

  • The Harley-Davidson original stereo has a 35-pin plug-in second harness. Our stereo does not use that 35-pin plug-in; this plug-in will not be used with the MP5.

  • Ensure that the unit is supported and secured on the sides using the existing 4 factory screws; failure to do so may result in movement of the unit while riding, which could cause damage to the mounting area.

  • If you are using an amplifier: Always use an amplifier mounting bracket and allow at least 1" of distance between the amplifier and the stereo. This allows for cooling and prevents heat damage to the stereo. Normal operational temperature of the amplifier should be around 160°F.

  • Please note: If an amplifier is placed directly on top of the stereo, the warranty may be voided.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1. I have a CVO, will the MP5 Replacement Radio work in my bike?

The CVO model might work or not work with our stereo. The reason for that is: some CVO models have a different wiring diagram even though they have the same exact 23 pins plug. Without the proper wiring, our stereo will not be compatible with the bike unless you want to hard wire it.

If your CVO has a stock Harley-Davidson amplifier you will have to either remove the stock amplifier, or replace it with an aftermarket amplifier.

A few suggestions for our stereo and your bike:

- If there is no sound - remove the stock amplifier and replace it with compatible amplifier (that has RCA cables).

- Make sure that the 23 pin have the speaker line. Sometimes it doesn't, the speakers’ cables are separated. The positive cable is on the 23-pin and the negative is on the 35-pin.

Q2. This unit has a built-in amplifier. Do I need another amplifier for my rear speakers?

The unit itself has a 288 Watt built-in amplifier, which is enough to power all four speakers (two front and two rear). You do not need an external amplifier unless you want your set up to be super loud.

Q3. How big is the storage behind the faceplate? Can I fit my phone in there?

The storage behind the faceplate on the MP5 Stereo is wider than the MP5+ model. It can fit an iPhone 11 Pro Max; however, you will not be able to charge it because of the tightness of the fit. A smaller phone can be stored and charged at the same time

Q4. What do the numbers on the 23-pin harness plug correspond with?

Q5. How do I do a factory Reset on the stereo?

There are two different ways that this unit can be reset.

The first way (preferred):

  1. Make sure your device is on radio mode.

  2. Press and hold the "Audio/Menu" button. A "AS/PS" will appear on the screen.

  3. Use the "Backward/Forward" arrows to scroll through the menu until you see "Reset".

  4. Press the Volume knob to select RESET.

  5. The unit will shut down. Leave it like that for 15 sec.

  6. Power on, by clicking (no hold) once the volume knob.

The second way:

When you remove the faceplate from the bike and look at the face frame, there should be a small button located in the bottom right corner that says "Reset". You will need a small pen/screwdriver to press that button.

Q6. Can I listen to music from the USB?

The USB is only for charging. No music will read. Model AQ-MP-5UBT-HS has the option to play music from USB stick.

Q7. Is it normal to experience difficulty removing or applying the faceplate? How do I remove the faceplate?

Yes, it can be difficult to remove the faceplate; this is a normal part of the design and is not indicative of a break or defect. The faceplate is designed for safety first and foremost, which can make it understandably challenging to pop on and off.

To remove the faceplate:

  1. Click the small button with the ejector symbol on the lower left-hand corner of the faceplate.

2. The left-hand side of the face plate will release.

3. Use your hands to move the faceplate and release it from the right-hand side.

To mount the faceplate:

  1. Apply the faceplate on the right; please note that one tab is not movable.

  2. Press the left-hand side of the faceplate until it is firmly applied to the unit.
