Environment Install Instruction

  • Take the 23-pin plug-in from your Harley-Davidson stereo and plug it into the Aquatic AV stereo. The 23-pin holds the wires for the front speakers and the handlebar controls wires.

  • The Harley-Davidson original stereo has a 35-pin plug-in second harness. Our stereo does not use that 35-pin plug-in; this plug-in will not be used with the MP5.

  • Ensure that the unit is supported and secured on the sides using the existing 4 factory screws; failure to do so may result in movement of the unit while riding, which could cause damage to the mounting area.

  • Apply the face plate firmly to the unit.

  • Power on the bike.

  • The stereo will power on, as well. If it doesn't, click the volume knob. The volume knob is the power on button. Click once the volume knob and it will power on the stereo. Click and hold the volume knob and it will power off the stereo.

  • If you are using an amplifier: Always use an amplifier mounting bracket and allow at least 1" of distance between the amplifier and the stereo. This allows for cooling and prevents heat damage to the stereo. Normal operational temperature of the amplifier should be around 160°F.

  • Please note: If an amplifier is placed directly on top of the stereo, the warranty may be voided.

Q5. Will my phone fit inside the compartment?

The size of the internal compartment on the MP5+ measures 6" x 3.5", which is smaller than the MP5.

Q6. I just bought an amplifier with RCA cables and connected it to the stereo. Do I have to power off the stereo's internal amplifier?

No, you do not need to turn off the stereo's internal amplifier; doing so could actually result in lost or poor sound quality. By default, the internal amplifier is on and should remain on. The stereo works very well with both the external amplifier and internal amplifier powered on.

Q7. The Bluetooth on my stereo does not work. What should I do?

If the Bluetooth on your stereo doesn't work, first try to pair the stereo with another device (phone, tablet, laptop). If that is not an option, reset the stereo by following these steps:

  1. Make sure you are on "RADIO" mode.

  2. Click "MENU" info button.

  3. Go to "SYSTEM".

  4. Go to "Reset". This will power off the stereo. Leave it powered off for 15 seconds.

  5. While the stereo is powered off, open your phone's Bluetooth menu and "forget" the MP5+ Stereo.

  6. Power on the stereo.

  7. Add the stereo as a new device in your phone's Bluetooth menu and pair your phone with the unit.

Q8. Can I buy new faceplate?

Yes, you can buy a new faceplate from our web store. Please note: The faceplate has to be the same model as the unit. For this stereo model (AQ-MP-5UBT-HS), you will need the AQ-MP-5UBT-HS faceplate.

Q9. How do I pair the stereo with my phone's bluetooth?

  1. Power on the stereo.

  2. Click "Mode".

  3. Select BT (Bluetooth).

  4. Turn on the Bluetooth and pair to AQUATIC AV. Searching for a new device might take a few seconds.

  5. Make sure the volume on the phone is set to max.

  6. Play music.

Q10. Can I pair the stereo with my headset?

The headset and the stereo use the same Bluetooth technology. They both need a receiver to pair with, such as a phone, tablet, or laptop. You will not be able to pair your headset to the stereo, but you can pair your stereo to a phone, tablet, or laptop.

Q11. Can I listen to music from a USB stick?

Yes, you can. However, there should be no folders inside the USB stick as the stereo will not recognize folders. Instead, place all songs one after another on the USB stick. The format of the songs should be .mp3.

Remove the face plate, plug in the USB stick, apply the face plate, power on, select USB mode.

Q12. I have AQ-MP-5UBT-HS stereo, 4-channel amplifier and HS111 speakers. How do I install them?

Stereo Installation:

1. Plug out the 23-pin plug-in from your Harley-Davidson stock stereo and plug it in the Aquatic AV stereo. The 23-pin holds the wires for the front speakers and the handlebar controls.

2. Harley-Davidson stock stereo has second harness: 35-pin plug-in. Our stereo does not use that 35-pin plug-in. This plug-in will stay away. The 35-pin holds the wires for the intercom system and CB radio.

3. Ensure that the unit is supported and secured on the sides using the existing 4 factory screws; failure to do so may allow the unit to move during while riding, causing damage to the mounting area.
4. Apply the face plate firmly to the unit.
5. Power on the bike.
6. The stereo will power on, as well. If it doesn't, click the volume knob. The volume knob is the power on button. Click once the volume knob and it will power on the stereo. Click and hold the volume knob and it will power off the stereo.

External Amplifier Installation:

1. Always use amplifier mounting bracket and allow at least 1" distance between the amplifier and the stereo. This way the cooling will prevent the heat damage of the stereo. Normal operational temperature of the amplifier: 170°F.
2. If there is an amplifier put directly on top of the stereo, it will void the warranty.

With the Stereo:

1. Locate the following 4 RCA cables: Rear Out R, Rear Out L, Front Out L, and Front Out R.

2. Locate the blue remote trigger wire.

With the amplifier:

1. Locate the extra harness that came with amplifier.

2. Locate your RCA input.

3. Locate your Speaker wire output (Gray/Black, Gray, White/Black, White) .

4. Take note that Gray set of speaker wire are your right side and White set of speaker wire are your left side.

5. Locate your power and ground wire.

Installation:

1. Connect your right speaker to the amplifier's gray set of wire (Solid gray is your positive, and gray/black is your negative).

2. Connect your left speaker to the amplifier's white set of wires (Solid white is your positive, and white/black is your negative).

3. Connect the Input RCA from the amplifier to one of the output RCA from the unit.

4. Connect the blue remote trigger wire from the stereo to the amplifier's blue wire.

5. Connect the ground and power wire from the amplifier to your battery.

Speakers installation:

Inside the box, the mounting ring will allow installation of the 6.5" speaker into 5.25".

Take one speaker and one crossover box (included into the box):

1. Connect the WF red and black cables to the tabs on the side of the cone of the speaker.

2. Connect the TF red and black cables to the red and black cables that go out of the speaker's magnet.

3. Connect the IN red and black cables to the speakers wires of the amplifier.

Q14. How do I connect my rear speakers to that stereo?

Contained in the manual bag (included with your stereo), there is a small 4-pin connector. This 4-pin connector is meant to be wired to your rear speaker lines and plugged into the corresponding plug on the back of our stereo.

Q15. Should I get 2 Ohms or 4 Ohms spekaers?

The stereo is 2 Ohms stable. The stereo will work very well with 2 Ohms speakers or 4 Ohms speakers. If the speakers go below 2 Ohms, the stereo will be damaged.

Let's say you have 4 speakers connected to the stereo: 2 front and 2 rear.

Output voltage @ 2 Ohm - 4x 72W
Output voltage @ 4 Ohm - 4x 45W

With 2 Ohms speakers the sound will be slightly lauder than the 4 Ohms speakers.

Q16. What is the difference between AQ-MP-5UBT-HS and AQ-MP-5UBT-S?

Model AQ-MP-5UBT-S is marine stereo. It's made for boats. That model does not have handlebar control at all. Also, it does not have the mounting bracket. It is impossible to mount it inside the fairing.

Model AQ-MP-5UBT-HS is aftermarket replacement stereo for Harley-Davidson 1998-2013. That model has handlebar control and mounting bracket.
